Oranżada is a band that follows its own path. It leads through the meanders of different musical styles. From post-punk to psychedelic and songwriter atmospheres. So far the band has released four studio albums. Now it is time for a live album.

The cult Bogart Club, where the recordings were made, plays host and publisher here. The spiritus movens of the project, Przemek Urbański, owner of an unsinkable ship that always includes the most important concert tours, persuaded the band to take part in the project and, as its patron, made an album that, as it turned out, many had been waiting for.

In the world of Polish underground music, Oranżada is a phenomenon, and the musical volte-face they have been practising for over twenty years is proving to be an invaluable art. Consistently avoiding reportage or lyrics rooted in national history is media suicide, but Oranżada communicates using a universal code. A code easily recognised by a listener who knows and appreciates the achievements of, say, Legendary Pink Dost, Sun Ra, The Fall or, on the other hand, Can and The Stooges. What we have here is a band that exists in a media vacuum and yet is able to play anywhere in the world.

The clear associations with the German Krautrock bands of the 1970s are not at all clear. References to the New Wave of the 1980s, the guitar playing of the 1990s or the alternative bands of the early 21st century follow in quick succession and in various configurations. References worthy of note, but after a few bars of each orangish composition you hear completely original music with no less original lyrics. In the live version, the band lose themselves in the performance and bring out additional depth.

The double black wax contains almost all the songs from the album 'Samsara' and selected compositions from the first two albums 'Oranżada' and 'Drzewa w oradzieły zdzikły'. The icing on the cake are songs that have not previously appeared on studio albums, such as the fast-paced post-punk of 'Ordinary Song', the garage stoner of 'Ley Down', the powerful and psychedelic 'Shaddy House' or the peri-Two-Two archaeological find inspired 'Big Sharp Stones'.

about

Live album “Live in Bogart”

Kultowy Klub Bogart, w którym dokonano nagrań, występuje tu w roli gospodarza i wydawcy.
Legendary Pink Dost, Sun Ra, The Fall, czy też Can i The Stooges i The Clash.

Oranżada is a band who go their own way. It leads through meanders of different musical styles. Starting from punk rock and ending with psychedelic and songwriters’ climates. So far their four studio albums have been released. Time has come for a concept album.
The cult Bogart Club where the recordings where made is both the host and the publisher. Project’s moving spirit Przemek Urbański, owner of an unsinkable unit for years included in the most important concert tours, convinced the band to the project and becoming its patron made an album for which many – as it turns outwaited.
In the Polish underground music world, Oranżada is a sensation and their musical acrobatics done for more than twenty years turns out to be art invaluable. Consistent avoiding of reporter’s lyrics or those embedded in national history is a media suicide, but Oranżada communicates with universal code. The code is easily recognized by a listener who knows and appreciates the achievements of i.e. Legendary Pink Dost, Sun Ra, The Fall or, on the other hand, Can and The Stooges. We have a band existing in media void but still working well and able to play in any place in the world.
Clear associations with German krautrock bands from the 70s are not at all unequivocal. References to the new wave of the 80s, guitar playing of the 90s or alternative bands from the XXI century beginning will follow one another quickly and in different configurations. The references are worth attention, but as soon as after a few beats of each Oranżada concerto you hear completely original music with no less authorial lyrics. Playing live the band loses themselves in performing and extract additional depths.
On a four-side release, we find nearly all concertos from “Samsara” album and chosen compositions from the first two albums “Oranżada” and “Drzewa w sadzie zdzikły”. The icing on the cake are concertos which until now have not come out on studio albums, like fast post-punk “Ordinary Song”, garage stoner “Ley Down”, strong and psychedelic “Shaddy House” or “Big Sharp Stones” inspired by archaeological findings from around Otwock.
The concert will be also issued on a DVD which will bring more unreleased recordings like for example very hippie piece “Get Your Head Around Be Busy”.
Bogart issued a real treat for those who seek continuators of the authentic message in guitar music of the XXI century. As Przemek Urbański announces it Oranżada album begins a publishing series of limited editions of vinyl with most interesting concerts’ recordings.

about

Oranzada Otwock, Poland

Oranżada let themselves explore a more deep, experimental, music. Music scores like Szalony Paź, Hipnoza are an example of pure avant-garde, reaching compositional levels ala John Cage and maestro Penderecki. Musical intuition swings from one extreme to another, showing how every band member is open to various divergences made of intuitive improvisation reaching theatrical prog jazz climaxes. ... more
